Instructions for a 16" stretchy choker:

  1. Make the drops:
    1. Make the drops (easy stretchy choker free jewelry project from Rings & Things)
    2. String a 6mm colored bead on a head pin.
    3. Trim excess (keeping about 8mm, or 1/3").
    4. Use round nose pliers to grasp the wire just above the bead, at the arrow, and bend sharply away from you.
    5. Now use small round nose pliers to grasp the tip of the wire, and bend it smoothly around the pliers down close to the beads.
    6. Repeat steps a-d 6 times, so you have 7 drops.

  2. String needle onto cord, bringing needle to center of cord, so your cord is now doubled.  Tie a temporary knot at the far end, to keep your beads from falling off.
  3. String 8 of the 4mm beads
  4. String 8 of the 6mm beads
  5. String a seed bead, a colored Czech bead, another seed bead, a bead cap, an 8mm Czech bead, another bead cap, one of the drops from step 1, a bead cap, an 8mm Czech bead, and a final bead cap.
String a seed bead, a colored Czech bead,... (easy stretchy choker free jewelry project from Rings & Things) Note: When stringing the bead caps, they should "hug" the 8mm Czech bead.
  6. Repeat step 5, 6 times, using all of the drops from step 1.  Add a final section consisting of a seed bead, a 6mm colored bead, and a final seed bead.
  7. String 8 of the 6mm beads
  8. String 8 of the 4mm beads
  9. Gently pull beads tight, and center the beads on the piece of cord. (Do not pull so tightly that the cord is actually stretched).  Cut off temporary knot.
  10. Tie a square knot.  (Both ends from one side of the necklace are considered cord "1", and both ends from the other side are considered cord "2".)
One of the nice things about Gossamer Floss is that a square knot like this is likely to fit inside even these small Czech beads.
