Garnets are named after punica granatum (pomegranate), due to garnet's resemblance to pomegranate seeds. Garnets come in a variety of shades (including red, green, yellow, orange, brown, pink, purple, gray and black), but generally when you hear the word "Garnet" you think of a deep rich red. Garnet is actually a group of closely related isomorphic minerals which can even intergrow within one crystal. Grossular garnets range from a warm cinnamon color through shades of yellow, to a brilliant green. An especially fine form of green Grossular garnet is Tsavorite. We often have Kashgar, Hessonite and other colors of garnets but when we have garnets other than the standard red, they are likely to be limited availability -- so get them while you can! Garnet is the most popular and well-known birthstone for January. Find a wide variety of garnet gemstone beads and charms at Rings & Things, with wholesale price options for volume buyers.
