Gold-Filled & SF Wire

Shop half-hard and dead-soft gold fill wire for making jewelry. Choose from 20-gauge to 26-gauge 14kt gold-filled wire. Silver-filled wire sometimes available.

Also called gold overlay, gold filled wire is a great option for making precious gold jewelry without the cost of solid gold. Gold fill is created by using heat and pressure to apply a layer of karat gold to a base of less costly metal. This produces a thick karat gold surface that is 100's of times thicker than a plating. All of our gold fill wire is seamless, which means the overlay continues around the full circumference of the wire. Choose half hard or dead soft 14kt gold-filled wire in 20 gauge to 26 gauge. Silver filled wire is a wonderful option for crafters and artisans who want to make precious silver jewelry but don't want the high cost of solid sterling or fine silver. Silver fill is made by using heat and pressure to apply a thick layer of silver to a base of less costly metal. This produces a silver surface that is 100's of times thicker than a plating. All silver filled jewelry supplies at Rings & Things contain at least 1/20th silver by weight. Choose from dead soft and half hard silver fill wire in several gauges. Round, half-round, and square wire are all available. 2021 Update: Due to labor shortages, silver-fill jewelry supplies are not always available.

Our precious metal wire is sold by the troy ounce (ozt). The number of feet per ozt varies depending on wire gauge (thickness). Click into a product's details to see the feet per ozt for that gauge.
