Crimps & Cord Ends

Shop a huge selection of crimps, cord ends, jewelry cones, necklace clamps, multistrand jewelry findings, and end caps for neatly finishing custom jewelry.

Crimps, cord ends and jewelry end caps give you many easy ways to professionally finish the ends of your handmade necklaces and bracelets. Master your finishing techniques with these helpful jewelry findings!

  • Crimp beads, crimp tubes, wire protectors, and crimp covers provide secure, professional finishing touches to beading wire (stringing cable).
  • Bullion provides a classic jeweler's touch to silk cord, beading cable, and pearl and gemstone necklaces.
  • Use Bead Tips to finish the ends of necklaces, bracelets and anklets strung on silk cord and other beading thread.
  • End Caps/ Cord Ends with Loop (100+ options!) are popular for gluing, crimping or folding onto the ends of kumihimo, Viking knit, beading chain, synthetic cording + flat leather.
  • Cord Ends (No Loop) perfectly hide the ends of multiple strand designs (including kumihimo and wire crochet).
  • Choker clamps offer a clean finish for wide ribbon.

Crimp Beads and Crimp Tubes provide a secure and professional finish for beading cord and cable. Plus, they're a cinch to use once you get the hang of it!

  • Most crimp beads and crimp tubes are designed for securing the ends of stringing cable (also known as beading wire). Some larger styles are designed for stretchy cord or heavy-gauge wire. While crimp beads are almost identical to crimp tubes, some crimp tubes are longer, giving you more crimping surface for extra security.
  • Crimp Covers easily sit atop a crimped bead or crimp tube, looking like a small round spacer bead. They help your design look and feel more professional, because they can hide minor imperfections in your crimping style, and they cover scratchy cable ends, when your end beads are too tiny for you to run the cable back through them.
  • Wire Protectors may not be necessary for every design, but they add extra protection for people who are hard on their jewelry, and they add a more finished look (especially when the color of your cable or cord doesn't match as well as you'd like it to).
  • Scrimps by Beadalon are like durable crimps with tiny built-in screws that you can tighten and loosen without kinking or restringing your designs. Not everyone needs this feature, but if you do, it can save you a ton of time and headaches!

To finish a necklace or bracelet with crimp beads:

  1. String a crimp bead onto the beading cable, then string a clasp.
  2. Optional: Add bullion or a wire protector. Tip: Bullion and Wire Protectors can help prevent fraying on designs that get a lot of movement, or simply hide the color of your beading wire.
  3. Loop the cable back through the crimp bead.
  4. Tighten up the loop, but not too tight! Use flat-nose pliers to flatten the crimp, or use crimping pliers to crimp the bead into a small rounder crimp.
  5. Trim the excess cable.
  6. If desired, use large crimping pliers to close a crimp cover over the crimp bead.

  • For a fast, professional finish, conceal flattened crimps and scratchy wire cable ends with a crimp cover! You'll get a great looking bead every time and can focus on making crimps that hold instead of just crimps that look nice. Crescent shape won't become a perfect round bead when closed, but with a little practice, you can get very close. These also work nicely as "stopper beads" on the ends of magnetic cable chokers and cable bracelets to keep large-hole beads from slipping off the ends. Green Silver All our sterling silver items are nickel free. And this sterling silver item is even better! This item is made from environmentally responsible green silver. • Bead tips are jewelry findings that provide a great way to hide knots at the ends of bead thread. To use a bead tip, thread the end of your stringing material through the hole, then knot it to secure your strand. If your thread is very thin, you may want to tie the knot around a seed bead, for extra bulk. Next, bend the hook closed to create a simple loop, and attach a clasp or jump ring. The difference between bead tips and crimp beads is that crimp beads are crimped onto cable, wire or thread to create a secure hold (best for stringing materials that can't be knotted), whereas bead tips are best for stringing material that knots well (and might get cut or frayed if crimped). Bead tips aesthetically hide the secure hold created by the knot inside them. • Finishing Multiple Strandsor Heavy Cord? Bullet End Instructions As with most stringing methods, secure the first end before stringing the rest of your necklace. For this method, you need a 2-3" head pin, or 2-3" of brass, sterling or other soft wire. Tie a knot about 1/4" from the end of the cord(s). If you have more than one strand, knot all the strands together. Wrap the head of the pin (or end of the wire) around the knot a few times, then squeeze the wire/knot tight with a pair of pliers. As long as the knot is secure, it doesn't matter how messy it looks. The purpose of a bullet end is to hide this messy (but secure) method. If using beading wire / stringing cable, a crimp bead replaces the knot. Poke the long end of the wire through the bullet end, pull all of the knot up inside, and make a round loop with the wire outside the small end of the bullet end. Attach a jump or split ring, and/or clasp. If using lightweight wire, wrap the wire a few times around itself for durability. After you finish stringing your jewelry, do steps 1-3 for the other end, leaving enough cord for a knot plus the length of the bullet end. Any excess cord can be cut off when done. See Related Products links (below) for similar items and additional jewelry-making supplies that are often used with this item. Finishing Multiple Strandsor Heavy Cord? • Can't get that mangled crimp to look like a bead, or don't feel like trying? Having trouble with scratchy edges on your crimps, or a teensy bit of un-trimmable stringing cable poking out of the end? Just conceal it with a crimp cover! You'll get a great looking bead every time and can focus on making crimps that hold instead of just crimps that look nice. Please note:Crescent shape won't become a perfect round bead when closed, but with practice, you can get very close. These also work nicely as a "stopper bead" on the ends of magnetic cable chokers and cable bracelets to keep large-hole beads from slipping off the ends.
