Asfour and PRESTIGE STRASS crystals are perfect for creating suncatchers, mobiles and ornaments for sale, for gifts, or for yourself.
PRESTIGE STRASS crystals are out of production. Our last few styles will be on this page while supplies last.
- PRESTIGE STRASS crystals scatter dozens of rainbows around a room when hung in a sunny window. PRESTIGE Strass crystal offers maximum refraction and beauty, and all clear PRESTIGE Strass crystals 12mm and above carry a permanent laser-engraved quality signature near the hole.
- Since 2012, all PRESTIGE Strass components are produced using Advanced Crystal, an innovative lead-free formula (containing .009% lead or less). Each and every crystal in PRESTIGE's top-quality STRASS Austrian crystal product line is carefully quality-checked to the very highest standard.
What makes Asfour Crystal special?
- Asfour chandelier crystals are 30% PbO. The leaded glass, combined with Asfour's traditional Egyptian craftsmanship (since 1961) and precision German faceting technology, results in a high refractive index and a stunning dispersion of brilliant rainbows around a room when hung in a sunny location!
- Every grain of sand that goes into the crystals is carefully selected, purified and processed to guarantee the maximum purity and durability. The result is sparkling crystal, with no blurs, bubbles or streaks.
We are thrilled with the quality of Egyptian Asfour crystal. Having worked with PRESTIGE crystals since the 1980's, we weren't too sure if we'd like these... but we LOVE them! We completely agree with reformulating crystal beads and jewelry supplies to get the lead out -- especially in children's jewelry, or any jewelry that's likely to get chewed on or accidentally ingested -- but we were saddened by the pastel rainbow effect that occurred in 2012 when lead was removed from PRESTIGE STRASS chandelier (aka suncatcher) crystals. Lead-free crystals are safer to have in your house (and your jewelry), but they just don't have the same rainbow effect in the sun.
We absolutely LOVE the bright rainbows produced by these 30% PbO Egyptian Asfour crystal prisms. Just be aware -- and let your customers know -- that these should not be placed over cribs or where children can access them. Place them in sunny windows, or hang them from chandeliers or where other bright light can shine through them, but out of reach of children's hands.
Asfour Crystal's emblem (a soaring bird symbol) is engraved on crystals 2" and larger. It's also on a few of the smaller crystals, such as the 30mm ball, but it's only guaranteed to be on the crystals 2" and larger.
