Large-hole oval "slider" beads by TierraCast have an elongated oval hole that's made especially for use with leather cord, leather straps and 2mm cotton cord.
- Distressed Oval beads have holes large enough to fit over 2 strands of 1.5mm to 2mm leather cord. They can be crimped with flat-nose pliers.
- Barrel beads (including the Jardin barrel beads from the Dulce Vida collection) can accommodate two to three strands of 2mm cord, making them great bead aligners on multistrand bracelets. They can also be crimped with pliers if want them to hold strands in place, rather than slide on the cord. Matching Hammertone and Jardin crimp ends are now available!
- 12mm Deco slider beads are large enough to fit over a 1/2" wide TierraCast leather strap, and can be crimped with pliers. These are out of production - get the last few while you can!
Silicone-lined slider beads are sometimes called keepers or bead stoppers. They are especially popular for keeping beads in place on snake chains.
Sterling silver sliders fit onto ribbon or flat cord up to approximately 8x2mm.
