Designer Tips

  • Link together 7 apatite or aquamarine beads with the 26-gauge gold-filled wire. Link 1 more blue bead but add 1 CZ drop at the end: For step-by-step linking instructions, see Jewelry Basics 101 (PDF). Set aside.
  • Link together 6 tourmaline beads with 26-gauge gold-filled wire. Link one more tourmaline but add 1 CZ drop at the end. Set aside.
  • Link together 4 pearls with 26-gauge gold-filled wire. Link one more pearl bead but add 1 CZ at the end. Set aside.
  • Slide 2" of chain, then 1 clear bicone onto the hammered endless-hoop style ear wire.
  • Slide the linked garnets, then 1 4mm AB bicone onto the hoop.
  • Slide 3" chain, then 1 bicone onto the hoop.
  • Slide the linked tourmalines, then 1 bicone onto the hoop.
  • Slide the linked pearls, then 1 bicone onto the hoop.
  • Slide 1.5" of chain, then 1 4mm AB bicone onto the hoop.
  • Slide 1" of chain, then 1 bicone onto the hoop.
  • You can either be done as-is, or if you want a little more security at the end of the beads, you can wrap 26-gauge wire around the hoop about 3 times and crimp it tight onto the hoop with chain-nose pliers.
  • Finish it off with an earring nut or French wire keeper to keep it on your ear securely.
  • Repeat for other earring.
Note: Vary the fringe length and number of beads as desired ... long, short, or in between!

Additional note: In case you're wondering why the colors in these earrings don't quite match the aquamarines and pink tourmalines shown below them ... These earrings were created using the designer's bead stash. When I asked if we had any designs with these ear wires, Veronica volunteered the earrings she was wearing, and she then found our closest current online beads to list as suggested parts, but the beads in her earrings are actually from strands of gemstones we don't always have available.
