The glossy shine of this cording is great for handmade artisan glass and ceramic pendants on nice quality necklace bails and tube bails (such as Aanraku, JBB, TierraCast and our Tube-Top bails), but we don't recommend stringing rough beads directly onto the cord itself. Necklace Tubes and Tube Bails are the most popular bails for rattail and Chinese knotting cord.
- Rattail cord (both our original rayon variety and the newer nylon) is excellent for Kumihimo. The smooth, shiny texture braids well and looks great. Our new nylon colors are more resistant to moisture than our original rayon, but may run if soaked. Finish ends with cone ends or bullet ends.
- Chinese knotting cord is a braided nylon cord. Our original 1.2mm style is no longer available, but we have 3 new colors in 1.5mm Chinese knotting cord! As you might expect, it's perfect for creating ornate Chinese-style knots, and is also popular for Kumihimo. It also provides a fresh, upscale look for macramé jewelry.
