    Question

Is this good for necklaces as well ? [R & T reply: Hi Ashlyn, thanks for asking. Yes, this does work well for necklaces. Just finish the ends with a clasp of your choice. With this chain, use a fine-gauge (petite) jump ring like the 22-gauge # 37-391-240 to attach the clasp at one end, and also to attach a larger jump ring at the other end, to make it easier to clasp. If you haven't made a lot of jewelry before, I should warn you that the tiny links on rope chain, do make it a little tougher to attach jump rings, so some patience working with tiny items is required.]

    Question

So is it 25ft or 1mm ? [R & T reply: Hi Cinn, Yes to both. This is 1.1mm diameter chain, and it is sold by the foot, as well as in 25-foot (full spool) increments. As of October 31, 2018, it is $7.83 for one foot, or if you purchase a full spool, the price decreases to $5.37 per foot ($134.25 per full spool). Thank you for checking!]

Gold fill (also called gold overlay or gold-filled) is made by using heat and pressure to apply a layer of karat gold to a base of less costly metal. This produces a surface with karat gold. The minimum layer of karat gold must equal at least 1/20 of the total weight of the item. What's the Difference between Gold Plate and Gold Fill? Gold fill is 50 to 100,000 times thicker than normal gold plating, and 17 to 25,000 times thicker than heavy gold electroplate (sometimes stamped 14kt HGP). For more info about GF, see About Metals which includes an illustration of the difference between gold plate and gold fill.
