Description
Lepidolite beads are cut from an uncommon mica that has been inconsistently available in the mineral market. Also known as gem lepidolite, lavenderine, and lepidolite mica, this semiprecious gemstone is a by-product of mining lithium. Unpolished lepidolite appears scaly, and its name derives from the Greek word lepidos, which translates to "scale." The color in these semiprecious beads ranges from violet to pale pink or white (or, occasionally, gray or yellow). Lepidolite beads can contain black markings which further add to their visual appeal. This gemstone is purported to have a calming effect, relieve muscle pain, relax nerves, and connect the heart and crown to bring spiritual understanding of pain and suffering. Lepidolite is also said to help people meet the challenges of change in their lives! Lepidolite rough is found in Zimbabwe, Sweden, Argentina, Canada (Quebec), Madagasgar, Russia, and the U.S.A. (California and Maine).
