Description

Tinned Copper is commonly used by stained glass workers, because soft solder flows nicely onto it, making it easy to add tinned-copper embellishments like spirals, swirls and cat whiskers. Even more importantly, tinned copper is used for creating wire loops for hanging, at the tops of suncatchers, stained glass pieces, and soldered-glass pendants. It's a good color match for soft solder and white-plated jewelry findings.

To "draw down" wire (make it thinner and more springy), slightly file one end of the wire and insert it into the draw plate. Grab it with pliers and pull through. It works well to put the draw plate into a vise or clamp at one end of a room so you can pull long pieces of wire through the draw plate. You can also have a partner simply hold the draw plate while you pull the wire through -- especially when using popular gauges around 20 gauge and thinner.See Related Products links (below) for similar items and additional jewelry-making supplies that are often used with this item.
