Description
Glass Vial Information
- Three-piece sets: a vial, a rubber stopper and a silver-plated cap. Use superglue to attach the cap. For oils and other liquids, use the stopper.
- These can be used to display grains of rice, small gemstone chips, gold flakes, spices, volcanic ash, etc.
- When writing on rice, jasmine rice is recommended. Use a fine-tip, waterproof and fade-proof pen from an art store, or the fine arts department of a craft store. 0.005 is a good line width for the pen. Baby oil is commonly used as the liquid for rice vials. It is often dyed with food coloring.
- Sizes listed are approximate and include cap, which adds about 6mm to height. The loop has a 2.5mm hole; fits rattail, leather, etc.
- The top of the glass tube is sometimes a bit rough. These are handmade, so expect some variance in size and shape.
- You only need to use the rubber stopper for spillable materials. Although the stopper fits well inside the vial, its top is a bit wide for the metal cap; to use the stopper, you might need to snip a bit off the edges of the top (wire cutters work well).
