Description
- Raw brass is unplated, plain brass that has been stamped out from a brass sheet on a punch press. Items are "rinsed" in a sheet of dry sawdust to remove grease left behind from the press.
 - Raw brass charms sometimes have a thin coat of oil, so be sure to wash them before gluing. Warm water and detergent (dry to avoid water spots) or alcohol and a cotton ball will do the trick.
 - To create an antiqued look on raw brass, apply an oxidizing solution.
 - Raw brass is not quite as shiny as most plated finishes. To make your raw brass items shinier, tumble-polish them with steel shot, water and a burnishing compound in a rock tumbler.
