Description
Cacoxenite by itself is an iron aluminium phosphate mineral associated with iron mining. It has a silky luster, and a hexagonal crystalline structure that grows in a radial pattern. When it forms within amethyst and other forms of quartz, it displays as yellow to reddish orange (and occasionally green) needles, strands, tufts and layered inclusions.
The name comes from the Greek words for "bad" and "guest" because the phosphorus in cacoxenite causes problems when smelting iron ore. However, in the world of gemstone healing, it's highly valued: It is believed to raise spiritual awareness with cacoxenite's high vibration. When cacoxenite forms within purple amethyst, it is considered to be highly regenerative, and is associated with the third eye and crown chakras. When it forms within clear quartz, it is associated with the third chakra. In both forms, it is believed to be an amplifier for positive thought processes, and beneficial for increasing intuition.
