Inexpensive and fun! Most stamped charms are one-sided, thin, and either flat or slightly domed. Size given is height x width and includes loop. Most loops are 0.8-1.2mm (inner diameter). Raw brass is unplated, plain brass that has been stamped out from a brass sheet on a punch press. Items are "rinsed" in a sheet of dry sawdust to remove grease left behind from the press. Raw brass charms sometimes have a thin coat of oil, so be sure to wash them before gluing. Warm water and detergent (dry to avoid water spots) or alcohol and a cotton ball will do the trick. To create an antiqued look on raw brass, apply an oxidizing solution. Raw brass is not quite as shiny as most plated finishes. To make your raw brass items shinier, tumble-polish them with steel shot, water and a burnishing compound in a rock tumbler.
