Frequently Bought Together:

These faceted beads emulate crystal at a more-affordable price. Czech firepolish beads are perfect for delicate antique-style jewelry, and are also ideal for repairing or updating antique jewelry. In a series of techniques going back centuries, they are created by pressing glass in a mold to make the bead, then faceting it by machine. The bead's surface is then slightly melted to "fire polish" it by putting it back into a heat source to give it a better luster. This process slightly rounds off the facets. Hole size for all firepolish beads is .8-1.2mm, unless otherwise noted. Pair these clasps with a relatively large loop or jump ring (at least 6mm) at the other end of the bracelet: The clasp hooks over this loop at the the opposite end of your jewelry, then you fold the hinge down to snap the clasp shut. These clasps work great for making bracelets and watches because they can be opened and closed with one hand. On vintage "assembly" bracelets (now called treasure bracelets), you'll often find a rhinestone bauble soft soldered or glued to the plated fold-over clasp. Fold-over clasps are still popular on the disk-and-loop bracelets used today, but instead of rhinestone assemblages, we normally see artisan-created polymer clay, dichroic cabs, or cool ceramic pieces glued to the disk bracelets.
