These heishi strands look great worn as-is, and they are also excellent for use as protective washers in riveted jewelry. There are about 1,000 inexpensive beads per strand, and it's easy to punch a larger hole with any jewelry tool designed for punching holes in metal. Then stack the colors and sizes for use as ornamental rivet accents, or use them on the back of a leather bracelet, to help hold a small rivet securely in place. We carry an eclectic selection of African beads, both old trade beads, and newer beads made or strung in Africa for the world-wide bead trade. Trade beads are old and/or used beads, and will show varying amounts of wear. Newly-made African beads are generally handmade in small communities. Style and availability vary.
