Botswana Agate is banded with fine, parallel lines of tan, mahogany, pink and white, and makes a beautiful addition to gemstone jewelry. Botswana agate may be almost mined out, so in recent years, we've seen less rough (uncut) stone, and newer beads are often (not always) paler in color than what we've previously stocked. As the name suggests, this gemstone is mined in the African country of Botswana. Please see the Related Products links below for similar items, and more information about this stone.

Raw brass will vary in color, and is not as shiny as most plated finishes. For an antiqued look, try an oxidizing solution such as Win-Ox™. Or, to make your raw brass items shinier, tumble-polish them with steel shot, water and a burnishing compound (to prevent rust on the shot) in a basic rock tumbler. Rinse well and dry with some agitation (a heat lamp, warm boxwood sawdust or other method will speed drying.) What is niobium? Niobium is a nickel-free inert metal. It is very resistant to corrosion and other reactions, and is used in medical implants. Niobium is not plated or painted, so will not flake or chip. It is anodized, meaning it is colored by dipping it into an electrically charged "bath." Because it contains no nickel, lead, or other additives, most people with metal allergies can safely wear niobium. Niobium Colors will vary: Colors from different batches, especially teal, may not exactly match. Teal ear wires and teal jump rings will look nice together, but are almost guaranteed to be different shades.
