Good workaround!
A slight squeeze with flat nose pliers often fixes kinks in cobra and serpentine chain. Kinking is a problem with these popular chains. 14Kt, sterling or cheap plated - they all tend to kink.

You get what you pay for
Can't beat the price on those but should factor in 20% defective clasps and quite a few kinked chains. I usually recover the clasps on bad chains and replace to reduce loss to around 10%
