The uniform size and shape of Toho seed beads make them an excellent choice for beadwork and consistently-sized spacers.Toho seed beads are usually colorfast; however, galvanized and silver-lined beads may fade over time. Protect them from bleach, excessive friction and direct sunlight to keep them looking like new. Seed Bead Facts What are seed beads? Popular, tiny glass beads commonly used for weaving and embellishment. How are they made? Glass is pulled or drawn using a hollow tube, and then the glass is cut in small pieces. They are sometimes reheated to round the ends. What's that funny little zero? That zero refers to the number of aughts, which is a unit used to indicate the size of small beads. The scale is inverted, so larger numbers of aughts correspond to smaller beads (i.e. the bigger the number, the smaller the bead). Size 11 would be 00000000000, but since that takes up too much room, it is abbreviated to 110. EURO TOOL is known for producing innovative and quality jewelry making tools and supplies. With this specialty crimping tool, you don't need as much pressure on the crimp beads as you may have used with other pliers. Too much pressure can damage the tips of crimping pliers, and may cause the crimp to cut through beading cable. Pliers eventually wear out and may break. Rings & Things backs these crimp pliers with a six month warranty. When handled without excessive pressure, they last much longer. To use crimp pliers, string desired pattern, add crimp bead and finishing finding (jump ring, split ring, bullion or wire protector), then use the crimper section (1) of the crimp pliers to secure the stringing cable. (Best results are achieved when the two cable pieces are positioned on either side of the center dimple.) Use the rounder section (2) for final shaping. This gives you a compact, rounded crimp bead, which (if desired) can be hidden inside large-hole bead, a crimp cover, or even a fold-over bead tip. These bar and ring sets can be clasped with one hand making them ideal for bracelets and watches. Please note: The last few beads you put near the clasp should be small, to make sure the bar will go all the way through the ring (making the clasp easier to close). Size listed is outside diameter of the ring (excluding its loop) and the length of the bar. Price is per set, rather than per piece. Toggle Clasps and Bracelets It's true! Toggles can be clasped with one hand, so they are good for bracelets, including watch bracelets. Here's a hint to help make sure no one loses one of your creations: When using toggle clasps for bracelets, the bracelet must fit the customer fairly well. If the bracelet is too loose, a short toggle bar might wiggle itself out of its loop. Longer bars can help solve the problem, but won't eliminate it. To size your bracelets to your customers' wrists you might want to use a few chain links at the end, between the clasp and the last beads. Then you can remove or add links at the time of sale. Or if you really have a good thing going, make 6.5", 7", and 8" versions of your best-selling patterns and colors of bracelets.
