A drop of glue (super glue, household cement, epoxy or even fingernail polish) helps secure the cord in these fold-over crimps. #41-254 and 41-255 have a small prong to help hold cord more securely. Push the cord down on the prong before you glue your cord. Hint: Use heavy cutters to trim off the loop to use as a crimp for thicker cording. Smooth any rough edges with a nail file or jeweler's file. See Related Products links (below) for similar items and additional jewelry-making supplies that are often used with this item.

Pair these clasps with a relatively large loop or jump ring (at least 6mm) at the other end of the bracelet: The clasp hooks over this loop at the the opposite end of your jewelry, then you fold the hinge down to snap the clasp shut. These clasps work great for making bracelets and watches because they can be opened and closed with one hand. On vintage "assembly" bracelets (now called treasure bracelets), you'll often find a rhinestone bauble soft soldered or glued to the plated fold-over clasp. Fold-over clasps are still popular on the disk-and-loop bracelets used today, but instead of rhinestone assemblages, we normally see artisan-created polymer clay, dichroic cabs, or cool ceramic pieces glued to the disk bracelets.
