Fresh Pots Bracelet Tutorial

Designer Tips

  • Use silhouettes of multiple teapots and teacups to make this design. No two are alike.
  • Use rubber cement to glue the paper images to the metal.
  • Saw vertically at all times and use cut lube; this helps ensure a longer life on the saw blade.
  • For the handles, punch a starter hole with the 2-hole punch. This tool does not deform the metal like plier-style punches.
  • File any rough spots.
  • Jaci created the designs for etching, using a combination rubber stamps and hand-drawn images.
  • If you don't like a design placement element, use rubbing alcohol or StazOn Cleaner to remove the stamped or drawn image from the brass before etching.
  • Follow directions included with the etching kit exactly! This is very important to avoid any sort of malfunction or injury. Additional information can be found on Rings & Things metal etching blog post.
  • Patina the etched pieces before assembling bracelet.
  • Follow instructions in Basic Jewelry-Making Technique Sheet to make wrapped loop dangles with all the bicones and crystal pearls. Attach 4-6 of these dangles in random groupings to a jump ring.
  • Add a jump ring to the handle of each teapot and each teacup, and attach these to the bracelet chain, alternating the teacups and teapots with a grouping of dangles.
  • Design Option: Consider using ready-made teapot charms, if sawing your own from sheet is more than you want to tackle.
