Heart Tag and Tassel Chain - Silver Bracelet Tutorial

Chain bracelets adorned with a simple heart charm continue to be popular. The sterling silver heart blank was intentionally left blank, but could easily be stamped or engraved. You can further customize this design by using different styles of chain, or tassels made of different materials!
These bracelets are fun and easy to make, and make great gifts for the minimalist in your life.

Designer Tips

  • Instead of cutting chains, use 2 pairs of chain-nose pliers to open a figure-8 link on the ring-and-connector chain, and remove one large link. Open one link at end of the cable chain, and add large ring: See Jump Ring Hint in Jewelry Basics 101 (PDF).
  • For extra security, use 2 jump rings to attach the heart charm to the large ring.

  • Use a jump ring to attach the tassel to this same large ring.
  • Determine desired length of bracelet (7"" is average), and use 2 pairs of pliers to open last link. Securely close it.
  • For extra security, use 2 jump rings to attach clasp to other end of chain.
