  • Texturize or etch* various metal pieces for the journal and patina as desired. This project is a great way to use your stash of etched metal bits. Cut decorative circles with disk cutter, punch holes and dap**.
  • For 3/32" diameter tubing, make hinge tabs one-half inch long. Use plenty of cut lube so that your saw blade doesn’t stick going around the tight corners.
  • Use wide, flat-nose pliers, to bend each tab up to a 90 degree angle. Use bail making pliers to roll the tabs into a cylinder shape. Use a tube cutting jig to cut a length of tubing 1mm longer than the width of your piece (for 1/2mm on each side).
  • Add decorative metal pieces using two-part epoxy, or rivet*** into place.
  • Create a necklace chain by making individual links using the one-step looping plier, eye pins, metal beads and agates. Assemble in an ombre pattern using oval jump ring to connect the links.
