Swarovski Emerald Eye Necklace Tutorial

Modified from a design created by Swarovski's Create Your Style Design Team

Designer Tips

  • Using the 1.5mm plier punch, or the smaller (silver) side of the 2-hole punch, make 6 holes in the Mandala Eye blank (5 on the bottom, and one on the top).
  • Using the jump rings, attach in order of the 5 holes left to right, one 9mm Emerald-cut Pendant, one 11.5mm, one 16mm, one 11.5mm, and a final 9mm. Attach another jump ring to the center hole on the top, and close. New to jewelry-making? See Jewelry Basics 101 (PDF).
  • Slide the suede lace through the top jump ring.
  • Cut the wire into two 2" pieces. Taking one jump ring and one end of the suede lace, fold over 1" of the lace onto the jump ring. Wrap one 2" piece of the wire around the suede lace to secure. Repeat for other side.
  • Attach the clasp to the end of the necklace.

Tools

  • Hole Punch
    • Many people find the plier-style punch to be more convenient. And some people have had bad experiences with bargain-brand 2-hole "helicopter" punches. However, the Eurotool 2-hole "helicopter" punch is high quality, and cuts through brass, sterling, and copper "like butter".
  • scissors or nippers
  • basic jewelry-making tools (wire cutters, chain-nose pliers)
