Designer Tips

  • First make a chain using 8mm jump rings and large-hole beads:
    • Twist open a jump ring and string it through a large-hole bead and then close the jump ring.
    • Open a second jump ring and string it through the first large-hole bead and a second large-hole bead; then close jump ring.
    • Open a third jump ring and string it through the second large-hole bead and a third large-hole bead; then close jump ring.
    • Open a fourth jump ring and string it through the third large-hole bead and a fourth large-hole bead; then close jump ring.
    • Open a fifth jump ring and string it through the fourth large-hole bead and the loop of an ear wire, then close jump ring.
  • For most secure way way to open and close jump rings, see Jewelry Basics 101 (PDF).
  • Add a crystal pear-cut pendant:
    • Twist open a 5mm jump ring and string on a pear cut crystal pendant. Attach the jump ring to the bottom ring of the jump-ring-and-bead chain, positioning the flat "table" side of the pendant facing forward. Twist the jump ring closed.
