Sardonyx is a variety of onyx that typically comes in shades of red (the word "sard" means "red"). Our Black Sardonyx beads are predominantly black, with bands, stripes and swirls of bright white, milky semitranslucent white, and occasionally dark browns, similar to black banded agate. Onyx is believed to help eliminate apathy, stress, and negative thinking. It is also said to sharpen wits, increase concentration, and prevent absentmindedness. Onyx is sometimes worn to help public speaking since it is believed to make the wearer more eloquent.
