Can Can Flowers Bobby Pins Tutorial

Designer Tips

 

  • Cut and flatten aluminum soda cans of your choice. Pick ones with interesting colors and patterns.
  • Cut flower shapes with craft punches.
  • Paint the flowers with Liquid Polyclay™. Place them on wax paper on a cookie sheet and bake according to the manufacturer's directions. This coating makes the flowers feel rubbery, reduces sharp edges, and prevents scratching.
  • Punch holes in flowers, add them to a head pin and stack as shown.
  • Glue in place with E-6000. Gluing Hints for Metal Findings (PDF)

  • 1 0.5 gross [use 1] #30-822 Bobby Pin, 10mm Round Pad
  • 1 pkg of 100 [use 3] #37-099-15-3 Head Pin, 1.5", Standard, Ball End (Silver Plated)
  • 1 ea #84-758-10 Kato Liquid Polyclay™, 8oz (Clear Medium)

  • 2 to 3 Aluminum cans (from the recycling bin)
  • 2 styles of flower-shaped craft punches (available from scrapbooking or craft supplier)
  • 4mm corrugated glass beads from designer's stash (shop flower beads from Rings & Things)
  • Paint brushes
  • Wax paper
